Ons Jabeur completed a terrific comeback win over
Iga Swiatek after giving away the first set 5-7 6-1 6-1.
Ons Jabeur is the first player to win a match on the last Manic Monday we will ever have as she defeated Iga Swiatek in three sets. The Tunisian has been playing with a lot of confidence at
Wimbledon and it showed today. She jumped out to an early lead due to some stellar shot-making.
Swiatek would come back strong to tie it up but Ons would take the lead once again. She was up 5-3 and served for the first set at 5-4 but lost it after some stellar point by Swiatek. The Polish player would add two more games to finish up the set 7-5.
It seemed like the 4-0 run would be a huge momentum swing for Swiatek but it proved the opposite. In the first service game of the 2nd set, she committed two double faults and several unforced errors to give Jabeur the break. It was only a small sample of things to come as Jabeur would wipe the court with Swiatek in the next two sets.
She hit 22 winners and committed only 12 errors en route to a 6-1 6-1 thrashing of Swiatek who could not win it. Jabeur served too good and dominated the rallies to advance to her first Wimbledon quarterfinal.
