In a rather one-sided affair,
Iga Swiatek swept past
Madison Keys to reach the semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open
Indian Wells tournament in California.
Swiatek looked dominant in her 6-1 6-0 victory over the American, as she controlled the pace of play throughout the match. The Polish star was clinical on serve, winning 21 of 25 points behind her first serve. Furthermore, she saved the only break point faced, while converting on five of her seven break point opportunities.
Keys was unable to create any momentum as she was under relentless pressure by the 2020 French Open champion. A big-hitter herself, the American was overwhelmed by Swiatek's power and variety, which resulted in Keys constantly being on the defensive end. After a mere 56 minutes, Swiatek sealed her spot in the semifinals with a forehand winner.
The third seed will face
Simona Halep in a battle of former French Open champions, as the Romanian booked her semifinal spot earlier in the day.
