Britain’s young tennis star Emma Raducanu's former coach
Nigel Sears believes that the current world number one Iga Swiatek has a more
complete game compared to the likes of Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina.
Swiatek has been leading the WTA rankings for quite some
time but has been chased vigorously by the likes of Sabalenka and Rybakina.
Sabalenka in particular came just a win short of dethroning
the Polish tennis star from the top spot during Wimbledon 2023 but lost the
semifinal to Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur.
Sears was quoted in a report where he suggested that Swiatek
has a more complete game compared to the world number two and three.
"Well if I had to bet I'd go with [Iga] Swiatek because
it’s probably going to Swiatek, [Elena] Rybakina or [Aryna] Sabalanka. Those
three. But I think Swiatek is just a little more complete than the other two.
So I’m going to go with Swiatek," said Sears.
The Warsaw-born has already won four Grand Slams in her
young career, including three French Open titles.
She will be defending her crown in New York later this month
as she won the title last year by beating Jabeur in the final with a score of 6–2,
7–6.
