Swiatek matches Halep in consecutive weeks as World No.1 despite Dubai final loss

Iga Swiatek lost in the Dubai final against Barbora Krejcikova but she still retained her number one rank equaling a noted pro in the number of weeks spent as number one.

Swiatek has been holding the number one spot since she got it around this time last year. She's been utterly dominant all year long giving herself quite a cushion on the other players. Even now, she has over 4000 points more than Aryna Sabalenka as number one. She certainly won't lose it in a while.

This Monday began her 48th week as the number one player in the world and that's a mark that equalled her with another big name - Simona Halep. The former number one spent that number of weeks as the number one player in the world and next week Swiatek will overtake her on those rankings.

Halep has been out of tennis for a while due to her suspension which is being challenged by Halep. A hearing is scheduled for this month.
