Iga Swiatek has built up a reputation of being a very dominant player who often wins sets 6-0 and there is a stat that proves just how dominant she's been in the past.
Swiatek's most dominant year was last year when she won 30+ matches in a row and multiple trophies. This year didn't see her dominate in the same fashion as she's been beaten quite a few times but most of that isn't because her tennis regressed or anything. It's because other players like Rybakina and Sabalenka stepped up and became better overall.
Swiatek is still as dominant as ever as set scores prove. Swiatek's win over Tatjana Maria saw her hand out a 15th 6-0 win of the season. By doing that Swiatek was able to match the record of Martina Hingis from 20 years ago. The former Swiss player recorded 15+ bagel sets in back-to-back years. Hingis did that back in 2000 and 2001 and nobody since then managed to record 15+ bagel sets in back-to-back years.
Nobody until Swiatek this year. Last year saw her win 21 sets with a 6-0 score and this year she's already at 15 which allowed her to match this record. She has a pretty good chance of making it 20+ once again and perhaps even more after that. The most bagel sets we saw since 2000 was in 2013 when Serena Williams recorded 25.
The overall record belongs to Steffi Graff who had 25+ bagel sets in two consecutive years. The legendary Germany had 29 bagel sets in 1988 and then 35 back in 1989. It's hard to imagine that Swiatek will ever reach those numbers but she might post a number bigger than 25. There is plenty of tennis left to be played and she's already at 15. Health will be key.
