Iga Swiatek continued her stellar run at the
Roland Garros with another victory against Martina Trevisan reaching her first Roland Garros semifinal.
Iga Swiatek is the breakout star of Roland Garros this year and it's not even debatable. What she has done so far has been more than impressing and her great run continued today with another strong display and victory against Martin Trevisan.
The first which was the more contested one lasted 42 minutes and was opened better by Trevisan. The Italian broke Swiatek in her first game which allowed her to take a 3-1 lead. It was at that moment that the Polish player turned it on. She first broke Trevisan to level the score at 3-3 before breaking her once more and taking a lead which she conveyed to a 6-3 first set victory.
It was a furious storm by Swiatek who continued to play well in the 2nd set as well. She broke Trevisan immediately to take a 2-0 lead before breaking her once more to take a 3-0 lead. She gave once back to make it 3-1 but broke Trevisan once more for a 4-1 lead which became a 5-1 lead. By that point, Trevisan already gave up so Swiatek quickly finished her off with another break to make it 6-1.
All in all, it was a strong performance by Swiatek after a sluggish start. The 80 minutes effort was good which saw her hit 20 winners to 19 unforced errors which was far from perfect but she will take it.
