Iga Swiatek is a wonderful clay player and her win yesterday in Madrid brought her consecutive WTA 1000 clay court win total to 12 which is the most since 2015 when
Serena Williams had her streak end.
Serena Williams was a dominant force in tennis and quite a few of her achievements got forgotten in recent years. There are many records she holds including the most consecutive wins in WTA 1000 clay events which she set back in 2015. Between 2012 and 2015, Williams was able to win 33 consecutive matches which is just incredible.
Compare that to the dominant force of today Swiatek, and you get to see how amazing that was. Swiatek has now won 12 matches in a row and that's still 3 times less than Williams had between 2012 and 2015. It is the most after Williams since 2009 so that just shows how hard it is to achieve. Now it's time to catch Williams though it will be very hard.
