There were a lot of question about Iga Swiatek heading into Wimbledon but the Polish player answered some of them on Monday. She played against a tricky player in Hsieh and passed the test comfortably. The Polish player came out focused in this match breaking Hsieh early.
After taking a break she never looked back and continued playing well on her own serve. She dropped only 7 points in total in the first set on her serve saving the only break point she faced. She had chances to go up a double break but in the end, it was a 6-4 1st set win.
Swiatek started off the 2nd set with another early break taking a 2-0 lead. However, a slight dip in focus allowed Hsieh to crawl back into this one making it 2-2. Iga would however ramp up the pressure once more breaking Hsieh to take a 4-2 lead.
Swiatek played aggressively posting a solid number of winners but there were a lot of mistakes as well. However in the end it did not matter as Swiatek blasted 20 winners en route to the 6-4 6-4 finish.
