The 2022 WTA Sydney Tennis Classic is a WTA 500 event running from January 10th till January 15th with a strong field.
The field is led by world number one Ashleigh Barty who started off the year in incredible fashion with some stellar performance and victories. She will hope to keep that going in Sydney where she should enjoy even more support than in Adelaide.
It won't be particularly easy for Barty who will face stiff competition from a very strong field that will also feature Garbine Muguruza who is the 2nd seed. The Spanish player will get 2022 underway in Sydney getting ready for an event she loves to play. Besides Muguruza we will see many other great players such as Krejcikova, Bencic, Kenin, Mertens and Rybakina.
Emma Raducanu is another player that will make her debut in Australia after taking a week off due to not feeling ready for competition yet. Many fans will flock to the arenas to watch her play and she is expected to have a lot of support. The winner of the event will get 108.000 $ with the finalist getting 66,800 $.
