16-year old Lind Fruhvirtova played a rather solid match against
Belinda Bencic but she wasted too many opportunities in the match and lost in two 1-6 6-7(6).
Fruhvirtova is playing some very solid tennis at the moment and he proved it once more against Belinda Bencic in Charleston. She opened the match in a rather nervous fashion and it was clear in her play. She was not hitting her serve at a very high rate and in rallies Bencic quickly established herself. It resulted in a 6-1 thrashing with Fruhvirtova winning only four points on her own serve.
The 2nd set was much better by the teenager as she was able to jump out to an early lead. She was up 3-0 with a double break but then lost her serve with Bencic getting a lifeline in the match. For the test of the 2nd set, Fruhvirtova was able to keep Bencic away from any break points controlling the match rather well. At 5-4, she was serving for the 2nd set but then got broken missing a huge chance.
We ended up in a tiebreak and once again Fruhvirtova was on top early on. She had a 3-1 lead but after that, she got a bit nervous and Bencic was able to take advantage of that. The Swiss player did not convert her first match point but she did the 2nd to escape in two sets and move on. A great effort by Fruhvirtova but also a demonstration that she has still a lot to learn.
