Teichmann extends magical run with win over Pliskova, moves to Cincinnati final

Jil Belen Teichmann will face Ashleigh Barty in the Western & Southern Open final after a strong win over Karolina Pliskova 6-2 6-4.
The Swiss player is essentially doing the same thing Camila Giorgi did last week in Montreal albeit this run is even more impressive. Teichmann had not played for quite some time but showcased impressive form from the start. Today all of her weapons were on display.
Pliskova applied some early pressure on Teichman but the Swiss player was able to withstand it with some timely serving. After that, she was slowly able to establish herself from the baseline with her precise groundstrokes. Pliskova did not know how to properly defend herself and found herself trailing.
Teichman won the first set with 6-2 mainly after outplaying Pliskova from the baseline. More of that came in the 2nd set albeit Pliskvoa was able to handle the pressure much better. Teichman took a 4-3 lead serving for 5-3 but Pliskova pulled it back.
However, the Czech player never quite figured out her opponent which allowed Teichmann to take another break before finally closing out the match with a 6-4 2nd set. A tremendous accomplishment for Teichmann who will play in the final of the event tomorrow vs Barty.
