It was a promising start to the 2024 season for WTA star Alycia Parks, as she reached the third week of this year's Australian Open. However, the American has seen her form plummet since, accumulating a rather embarrassing match record in the process.
The Atlanta native battled through the first two rounds in Melbourne, defeating former US Open runner-up Leylah Fernandez en route to the third round. However, Parks campaign was swiftly halted by compatriot Coco Gauff. Nonetheless, the 23-year old looked set to begin a new chapter in her budding career.

Parks embarks on disappointing streak

Following her third round loss, the American was unable to regain the form that saw her surprise fans in Melbourne. Parks has suffered 12 consecutive losses, winning only one set during this streak. Additionally, she has lost her last 22 sets played, including matches at the WTA 125 level.
The former World No.40 is nowhere near the form that saw her lift her maiden WTA title in Lyon last year. Parks has failed to make it to the main draw of the last big WTA events, falling in qualifiers at Indian Wells, Miami and Madrid. The American fell to Aliaksandra Sasnovich in straight sets during qualifiers for the upcoming Rome Open, which kicks off on May 7, 2024.
