The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge congratulate Emma Raducanu on winning BBC SPOTY

Members of the Royal Family are very keen tennis fans so when Emma Raducanu won the BBC SPOTY award they were quick to congratulate.

Emma Raducanu has many fans in Britain and members of the British Royal Family count themselves among them. The young Brit was recently honored with her first BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award after having a tremendous breakout season in the past few months. All of that culminated with Raducanu winning the 2021 US Open which was the first time a British woman won a grand slam since Virginia Wade.

After taking home the SPOTY, Raducanu received a congratulatory message on Twitter from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. They wrote:

"Congratulations EmmaRaducanu on a truly incredible year."

Raducanu has met the Duchess of Cambridge before upon her return from the US Open. They spent some time together as well as playing tennis.
