Work and nothing else is the message portrayed by Australian Number One, Daria Kasatkina who admits she is in a lucky position to be where she is but that the schedule rigours means all top stars do is play and travel.
Kasatkina is into the Last 16 in Paris where she faces off against Mirra Andreeva her good friend who she joked she is only friends with to get her in the vlog.
Andreeva also took Kasatkina hilariously to task over her interviewing skills. But it was Alex de Minaur's burnout issues that sparked another far reaching debate.
As others discuss the current state of the calendar, Kasatkina said that it is not normal for tennis stars to not to do anything else other than their job and she fully agrees with her fellow Aussie No.1. This then can chime into work life as she says as a result, the burnout means you don't want to work.
“Honestly, this one I agree with Alex. Our schedule is pretty rough. We have a completely packed schedule. There is no spot for anything. It’s not normal, but I think it can happen that the person who is traveling all around the world all the time giving their best, living the life of a tennis player, sometimes can feel this feeling that he’s tired. That sometimes you just aren’t super excited to go on court. This can happen.
"This is, you know, our job. I think everyone can relate that sometimes you don’t want to wake up to go to your job [laughing]. We are super lucky we have this opportunity to do what we love and get paid for it and travel around the world. It’s a nice life. But sometimes this also happens. When you give everything to something, sometimes you can be tired and need some rest. It’s normal. We are all humans. This can happen.”
