With recent issues stemming at the Madrid Open and the ATP runner-up getting more than the WTA winner at the
Rome Open, more spotlight has been shone on prize money disparity between the tours.
Many players have spoken up about it including on the ATP side with Denis Shapovalov among those voicing their displeasure at the lack of equality.
Paula Badosa has also recently spoke out against it but more in confusion saying that they are told to just get on with it and no reason has been given why they get less.
“I don’t know why it’s not equal right now,” said Badosa as per a piece in
NY Times. “They don’t inform us. They say this is what you get and you have to play.”
