Camila Giorgi lambasted the journalists that said she fled Italy calling them 'worthless' and that it is fake news after she announced her retirement earlier this year amid a dark cloud that surrounded her career.
The ITIA registered Giorgi's retirement on May 7 and this sudden announcement led to speculation about the Italian and the motives behind it. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, she was being investigated by tax authorities amid some disputes and flew to America to escape them.
Further details arose of her stealing furniture and not paying rent for a property and the issue that surrounds the vaccine trial with Giorgi accused of paying a doctor for a fake COVID-19 pass to evade the need for the vaccine. That has also recently hit strife with her lawyer reportedly leaving her mid case but she took to Instagram for a Q&A session.
She lambasted the journalists for reporting fake news and also said she would 'never ever' join the platform OnlyFans with some quipping after her retirement that it would likely be her next move given that for some she was more known for her beauty than her tennis. But she gave a resounding no and also took aim at the people in question.
She still remains involved in the trial though and with Giorgi currently in the States, she has yet to return to Italy to face any semblance of justice so the issue will likely rumble on.
"Unfortunately the worthless journalist make Fake News, and to get few more clicks on their page they would sell their dignity. I have a lawyer following me, and if I had problems I wouldn’t have returned to Italy 2 weeks ago, and I will be back soon. Thank you for your love," a translated version of Giorgi's response.
