Spending the first seven years of her life in Atlanta, Coco Gauff's roots run deep despite being Floridian and that impact will be felt in the city that raised her.
Gauff has joined up with an Atlanta native in Emmy-nominated actor, Storm Reid to invest in the renovation of sporting facilities at Brownwood Park.
An under resourced public park, the public tennis courts will be revitalised with Gauff present in Atlanta to help launch this initiative.
She also played in a singles exhibition defeating Leylah Fernandez 6-3, 6-3 but the result wasn't the main aspect of the visit.
“I mean, the support that we got today was insane," Gauff said, per a report by The Atlanta Voice. “They’ve made me the person who I am 100%. Moving from Atlanta to South Florida was a big change, but I love the culture here in the city.
"Being a Black woman in tennis and having the support from all the people in Atlanta means a lot to me truly.”
Gauff will kick off her US Open series at the Mubadala Citi DC Open which begins on July 31. Gauff and fellow top 10 players, Caroline Garcia, Jessica Pegula and Maria Sakkari are among those headlining a stacked field.
