The fan-favorite team of
Leylah Fernandez and
Taylor Townsend continued their quest for a maiden Grand Slam title as a duo, upsetting the second-seeded pairing of
Coco Gauff and
Jessica Pegula to reach the
Roland Garros (French Open) doubles final.
Fernandez and Townsend looked dominant in their 6-0 6-4 victory, and have reached their first Grand Slam final as a duo.
"I'm honestly so proud of how we were able to play and perform," said Townsend in their post-match press conference. "I told Leylah after the match that this is what we've been building towards over the past couple of months."
The 10th seeded North American duo will face the unseeded team of Xinyu Wang and Su-Wei Hsieh in Sunday's final.
