Canadian tennis star
Bianca Andreescu has expressed admiration
for the sport in a recent post on social media.
The 23-year-old broke onto the scene in 2019 when she lifted
the US Open after defeating the former world number one Serena Williams in
straight sets with a score of 6–3, 7–5.
Andreescu in a recent post on social media platform X — previously
known as Twitter—stated her admiration for tennis after starting watching it once
again but was a little perplexed after watching the length of the Brisbane
International quarterfinal between the former world number one Spain’s Rafael
Nadal and Australia’s Jordan Thompson.
“Started watching tennis again today for the first time in a
long time and what’s on is Thompson vs Nadal… lol. 2 h 40 and the third set
just started. This sport is something else,”
she wrote.
Andreescu had a difficult time ever since lifting the US
Open four years ago. In 2023, the Mississauga-born struggled throughout the
year, especially in the major events.
She appeared in the main draw of three out of the four Grand
Slams but failed to qualify for the fourth round or beyond in any of the mega-events.
Her best outing was playing in the third round of the French Open and Wimbledon.
