Indian Wells might not be taking place at least for the foreseeable due to the Coronavirus outbreak but with that, we take a look back at a throwback moment in the previous history of the tournament which saw Bianca Andreescu claim glory.
Andreescu claimed the BNP Paribas Open title also known as
Indian Wells one year ago today; defeating Elina Svitolina and then Angelique Kerber in the final respectively.
It became a breakthrough couple of months for the young Canadian; as she went on to win the Rogers Cup
defeating Serena Williams in the final despite the latter calling it a day due to injury.
Then defeated the American legend again but over the full match distance at the
US Open as she truly established herself as a star of the sport.
Injury followed though with the 19-year old not playing since the
WTA Finals in Shenzhen where she suffered a knee injury.
She would have hoped to be out again next month but the
season has been delayed due to COVID-19 also known as the Coronavirus; which she will hope will give her more time to recover and come back stronger ahead of what will likely be a busy end to the year given all the cancellations.
