Williams gave a humorous response after Iga Swiatek mistook one of the 7-times
Grand Slam champion's outfits for Katy Perry's. Amidst the Miami Open, the
current world No. 1 shared a fun activity with Naomi Osaka, Carlos Alcaraz, and
Coco Gauff where they had to guess which tennis players wore specific outfits.
The Polish
tennis player responded to the outfit by mentioning singer Katy Perry before
they clarified that they were only guessing tennis players' outfits, as Swiatek
thought it was about any celebrity: "I have no idea. Umm... so I'll [say]
Katy Perry," she said.
The
American tennis legend took Swiatek's confusion in stride and jokingly proposed
a collaboration tour with Katy Perry, also thanking the Polish player for the
idea: "Time for a @katyperry X Venus Tour? Thanks for the idea,
@iga.swiatek ✨," Williams commented.
In
response, the World No. 1 playfully requested to join the duo on their
hypothetical tour: "@venuswilliams can I join?🫠🥺," Swiatek replied.

The Polish
tennis player has been the main dominator of the WTA Tour in recent years and
already has 4 Grand Slam titles in her collection at just 22 years old. Swiatek
mentioned Rafael Nadal as her inspiration, along with the 22-times Grand Slam
champion Steffi Graf:

humble. Steffi Graf for her pursuit of excellence and intense presence on
court," Swiatek told Tennis365.
The Polish
player also highlighted the influence that the Williams sisters, Venus and
Serena, had on the changes that the WTA has undergone in recent decades:
"Serena and Venus Williams for shaping our game in the way we play it
today and changing it on so many levels," she added.

- Having spent weeks and weeks through the years on tour, I can say with confidence that Conchita was (is) one of the very few who realize the surprising level of maturity (and sometimes lack of) which Mirra seems to have developed in such a demanding adult world of Pro-Tennis. While at the same time reminding herself (Conchita, that is) that Mirra is still young and developing mentally and physically. The general public may forget at times, or not at all realize, these modern era young athletes do not have a 'normal' Youth.
