Former world number one
Naomi Osaka has revealed that she
was ‘devastated’ after her journey was cut short in the
Miami Open.
The 26-year-old, who recently returned to the court after a
gap of more than 12 months, did not have a great time while playing in the WTA
1000 event in Miami. She was knocked out after losing in the round of 32 to France’s
Caroline Garcia in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 7-5.
Osaka, who is now preparing to take part in the Clay Court
season, was recently quoted in a report where she revealed that she was ‘devastated’
after suffering defeat in the third round but was grateful for the kind of support
she has received in the recent past.
"Honestly really devastated to have lost but extremely
grateful and thankful for the support, it was so fun to play in an atmosphere
like this again,” she said. “I'm excited to see how far I can go and where life
takes me."
"I think my
second match was definitely the best match I've played so far and I hope I can
play many more matches like that in the future. Hitting on clay now and it's
different but fun, let's see what's happens."
