Novak Djokovic seems to have found at least a temporary coaching solution which could be carried forward into the clay court season by the World No.1 in the form of his compatriot and former doubles no.1, Nenad Zimonjic.
Djokovic was seen practicing also with Dusan Lajovic on the courts of Belgrade and the Serbian has history with Zimonjic both in a playing and coaching capacity. They played together many times winning the Davis Cup back in 2010 and ATP Cup in 2020, Zimonjic was captain for those.
While he also acted as a second coach of sorts during his 2022 Wimbledon title run albeit he has said previously that he couldn't work with Djokovic full-time due to his demanding travel schedule.
Never formally announcing his retirement, Zimonjic has since played in legends doubles including winning Wimbledon in 2023 with Rennae Stubbs and he then announced his intention to return to the ATP Tour last year. This has yet to transpire so it could be yet that he gives up any sort of desire to return at 47 to coach Djokovic.
While a left-field appointment, it also would make perfect sense given that he is a previous part of Djokovic's coaching setup, a friend and someone he trusts similar to when Ivanisevic came on board.
