"To think she can't win it would be ridiculous" - John McEnroe on Emma Raducanu

John McEnroe thinks that Emma Raducanu can certainly win Wimbledon if she's fully healthy and he would be shocked if she lost early.

The youngster performed brilliantly last year, making the fourth round in London, before being forced to retire mid-match against Ajla Tomljanovic after experiencing difficulty breathing. The 19-year-old followed it up with a miraculous victory at the 2021 US Open, becoming the first woman to come through the qualifiers and win a Major.

Raducanu has not had a significant impact in any of the tournaments since, but has been putting the work in, trying to be more consistent and add more levels to her game. Speaking about Raducanu, John McEnroe said:

"She's a supremely talented individual and has an excellent chance to make a good run. If she's physiclly fit, I'd be very surprised if she lost early, to think she can't win Wimbledon is ridiculous."

He further added:

"Expectations go up greatly when you pull off something like that, and Emma did something no one in the history of tennis has done. I'm assuming expectations in Britain are pretty high, the change in her life is overwhelming, the scrutiny is a bit much at times, it's the same everywhere, not just Britain. The bigger you are, the harder you fall."
