Aryna Sabalenka will not take any further part in this week's WTA
Eastbourne International, a precursor to Wimbledon as the top seed has fallen to
Camila Giorgi 6-7(2), 6-0, 4-6 in the Quarter-Finals.
Sabalenka looked visibly frustrated as she was broken towards the back end of the match before the Italian served it out at 5-4.
This was after the top seed at Devonshire Park this week was 4-2 up in the list and 1-3 up in the 3rd before the qualifier in what is a stacked field this week came through.
For the Belarusian who will go into Wimbledon as No.3 seed, there will be solace in a good run this week after losing out to Madison Keys in the opener in Berlin despite having an Olympic warm-up win with Victoria Azarenka in the doubles.
But is Eastbourne a pre-cursor to a wide open Wimbledon draw with Giorgi now set to face Anett Kontaveit tomorrow.
In the other Quarter-Finals, Jelena Ostapenko will take on Daria Kasatkina who has emerged as one of the leading contenders from her grass prowess this season.
As well as Anastasjia Sevastova facing Elena Rybakina meaning a completely unseeded line-up going forward in this tournament.
