From February 24 to March 2, the third edition of the WTA Merida Open will take place, which recently elevated its level to WTA 500, serving as the final stop before the start of the Sunshine Double. The defending champion is Zeynep Sonmez, who received a wildcard and will join major stars, led by Emma Navarro, Paula Badosa, and Beatriz Haddad Maia.
The tournament has a Total Financial Commitment of $1,064,510, a notable increase of 298% compared to 2024, considering the upgrade from a 250 to 500 status. The champion will take home $164,000, while the runner-up will receive $101,000, both prizes having grown by over 350% for 2025.
