Caroline Wozniacki have been awarded the wildcard entry for the Miami
Open. The competition is set to be played between March 17-31.
As per the latest report, Williams and Wozniacki are a few
of the big-name players to be awarded the wildcard for the competition.
The other big-name players who are set to participate in the
competition will be Britain’s Emma Raducanu and Japan’s Kei Nishikori.
Venus is a former world number one who has won seven Grand
Slams in her career. Despite being aged 43, she is still very active at the highest
level. She lifted her first major title back in 2000 when she defeated Lindsay
Davenport in the final at Wimbledon with a score of 6-3, 7-6.
Venus last won a major in 2008 when she defeated her sister
Serena in the final at Wimbledon in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-4.
On the other hand, Wozniacki is also a former world number
one who won one Grand Slam in her career when she defeated Romania’s Simona
Halep in the final of the Australian Open in 2018 with a score of 7–6(7–2),
3–6, 6–4.
In the 2023 edition
of the competition, it was the Czech Republic’s Petra Kvitova who lifted the
title after beating Elena Rybakina in the final with a score of 7-6, 6-2.
