Viktoria Azarenka will play at the inaugural WTA Citi Open Invitational Exhibition series that will feature 3 other players.
The event is staging a men's event where Rafael Nadal is the top seed but instead of holding a women's event, it will host a 4-player exhibition series. The WTA event was lastly held in 2019 when
Jessica Pegula won the title. It was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.
The event will feature 3 American players besides Azarenka and they are Jessica Pegula,
Jennifer Brady and
Coco Gauff. In the first exhibition match Azarenka is set to face Coco Gauff and the eventual winner will face the winner of the other tie. Azarenka is familiar with the event having played here before however she never reached the final.
It will serve as a good prep for the 4 players attending before they travel to Montreal to compete at the National Bank Open. That event is a WTA 1000 event and it will run from 9th till 15th of August.
