Anastasia Potapova's frustration during her opening round defeat to
Kaja Juvan turned into a good day for a fan on the sidelines as the latter picked up the Russian's racquet from the court and handed it to a fan as a souvenir.
Potapova who was seeded at No.23 did not have the Happy Slam with both her and husband, Alexander Shevchenko both falling at the first hurdle. Juvan upset Potapova 6-1, 6-4 in her opener in Melbourne.
Moments after the match, the 22-year-old violently destroyed her racquet and left in the middle of the court showing her frustration at an early defeat. After shaking hands with Potapova, Juvan noticed the racquet courtside and went to give it to a fan.
The fan in question took to social media with a picture of the racquet and replying to another tweet. He said he was in the right place, right time and lauded Juvan. "She’s actually such a legend, just right place right time but an awesome souvenir," he said. What a day for that fan, less so for Potapova.
