Former world number one and Australian tennis star Ashleigh
Barty was spotted during the
Brisbane International event.
The first ATP and WTA tournament of the new season is
already underway where players from all over the world are participating,
largely to get some much-needed preparation ahead of the first Grand Slam of
the year.
Barty, who retired from the sport in 2022 despite not
even turning 30 citing a lack of hunger and physical and emotional drive to compete
at the highest level, was spotted enjoying some top-quality tennis with her son
Hayden at the Brisbane International.
The Ipswich-born ended her career having won three Grand
Slams in her illustrious career. Her first major title was the French Open in
2019 when she defeated the Czech Republic’s Marketa Vondrousova in the final in
straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-3.
Two years later in 2021, Barty defeated another Czech player,
this time Karolína Pliskova in the final with a score of 6–3, 6–7(4–7), 6–3 to
lift the Wimbledon title. In 2022, the former world number ended up winning her
third major title, this time on home soil as she defeated America’s Danielle
Collins in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 7-6 to lift the Australian Open
title.
