Serbia’s legendary tennis star
Novak Djokovic welcomed back three
tennis stars in a post on the social media platform Instagram.
The new season saw the return of the likes of Spain’s Rafael
Nadal, Japan’s
Naomi Osaka and Britain’s
Emma Raducanu to professional tennis
after a lengthy break. Djokovic, who is often regarded as the greatest player
in the history of tennis in the men’s singles category, having won as many as 24 Grand
Slam titles, on the social media platform Instagram, welcomed back all three
players.
Nadal recovered from a knee injury sustained earlier in 2023.
It was because of this reason he ended up missing three out of four Grand
Slams. On his return, he defeated Austria’s Dominic Thiem in straight sets with
a score of 7-5, 6-1 in Brisbane International.
Osaka, on the other hand, also returned to the court after a
gap of more than one year. She stayed away from the action because of
pregnancy. The former world number defeated Germany’s Tamara Korpatsch in straight
sets with a score of 6-3, 7-6 in her first outing.
One-time Grand Slam winner Raducanu returned to the court
after an extended break. She dealt with multiple fitness concerns during her
time away from the action. She defeated Belgium’s Elena-Gabriela Ruse in her
first fixture with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.
