British tennis sensation
Emma Raducanu showed off her core strength by posting a training video of her lifting weights on social media.
The reigning US Open champion has not played since losing in the second round of the
Australian Open, and subsequently vowed to work on her physical fitness to prepare her for the rest of the upcoming season.
The 19-year old shared footage of her doing core exercises on Twitter, along with a hilarious caption, writing: “Finishing the week strong with some good facials & a nice round number. Happy weekend.”
While some questioned whether this sort of fitness training is healthy for someone like Raducanu, this particular exercise is commonly employed by tennis players. Alive Liveing, a personal trainer and best selling author, responded to Raducanu’s video by emphasizing that people should trust the process of the Grand Slam champion.
“A reminder from a trainer,” she said. “Training is all about context, of which we have none here. No ‘hot takes’ can be made from seeing a single exercise. Trust her process and trust her coaches who know what they’re doing and keep your misinformed opinions to yourself.”
