American tennis sensation Coco Gauff will be one of the underdogs at this year's Wimbledon, as the teenager returns to the tournament that introduced her to the tennis world.
As a 15-year old, Gauff defeated five-time champion Venus Williams in the first round of the 2019 Wimbledon Championships. The Atlanta native has since seen her stock rise in the tennis community, reaching a career-high ranking of World No.12. Furthermore, Gauff finished runner-up at this year's Roland Garros, losing to a red-hot Iga Swiatek in the final.
With Wimbledon just days away, Gauff spoke on her excitement for the tournament. The 18-year old described the feeling of playing on the prestigious Centre Court, highlighting it's unique atmosphere.
"When you bounce the ball you can hear a pin drop, only Centre Court has that vibe," said Gauff.
The American kicks off her Wimbledon campaign on Monday, when she faces Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the first round.
