The sisters
Venus and
Serena Williams made a return to the tennis courts in a TikTok video.
Considered
among the most successful siblings in the history of tennis since the late
'90s, Venus and Serena faced each other 31 times, with Serena leading 19-12 in
professional tournaments between 1998 and 2020.
While
Serena has been the more decorated of the two with 23 Grand Slam titles and an
Olympic gold medal, along with 73 WTA titles, Venus also boasts an impressive
record with a total of 49 titles, including seven 'majors.' Both reached the
world No. 1 ranking: Venus for a total of 11 weeks, while Serena achieved the
incredible feat of 316 weeks.
In addition
to their individual successes, the sisters have had a remarkable doubles
career, winning all four Grand Slam titles and three Olympic gold medals
together:
After
Serena's emotional farewell at the last US Open, Venus, at the age of 43, is
still active in professional tennis. Now, both have shared a beautiful and
nostalgic image of them training together again, eliciting emotions among their
fans.
“Having a
blast hitting with #venuswilliams,” captioned the 23-time Grand Slam singles
champion
While
Serena has been retired since the 2022 US Open, the older of the sisters,
Venus, is still active on the WTA Tour at 43 and has expressed that she has no
intentions of retiring yet, although she carefully manages her schedule to stay
physically well.
Venus is
expected to make her comeback in March 2024 during the 'sunshine double,' where
she is sure to have no trouble securing wild cards from the organizers for
Indian Wells and the Miami Open.
“That's
when the tournaments go back to the States, so my goal is to be up and running
when tournaments come back to the U.S,” she explained in an interview that
surfaced in October.
