Aryna Sabalenka eased past rising star, Mirra Andreeva who this week at only 16 years old has taken the Madrid Open by storm reaching the Last 16.
But in facing Sabalenka, many thought it was just a free hit for the Russian. But speaking post-match, she said that she doesn't believe in the notion of no pressure as she was once in that position herself as a rising star.
“I don’t believe there was no pressure on her. I remember myself being 17 years old coming to this event & I was thinking I’m already a Grand Slam Champion," said Sabalenka to Prakash Amritraj on Tennis Channel.
“I don’t believe young players saying ‘there’s no pressure on me. I have nothing to lose,’ Kind of, she has nothing to lose. At the same time, if she wants to be a top player there is something to lose. There is always pressure on both of us," she also said.
