The 3rd episode of the ATP & WTA joint series pairing one male and one female player features
Jamie Murray and
Bethanie Mattek-Sands talking doubles life.
Both are accomplished doubles players and both and Grand Slam winners so the pairing seemed natural. Together they have won the US Open Mixed Doubles title in 2018 and 2019 as well as played in the Australian Open 2020 final. Mattek-Sands is known as one of the most engaging tennis players on tour and Murray admitted as much saying:
"You've helped me come out of my shell a little bit" to which Bethanie had a great reaction saying it would be the biggest compliment. Mattek-Sands then asked Murray what it feels like having a partner for a long time and he said:
"I've always wanted to be in a stable partnership because to have that continuity, that direction, the more you play with someone the easier is to build that partnership."
Mattek-Sands offered her own perspective explaining that for he is mostly how she vibes with the person on an energy and communication level. Overall the episode featured a lot of great conversation including anecdotes of the time they played together so defiantly give it a listen.
