Tunisia’s tennis star Ons Jabeur and the former world number
one Russia’s Maria Sharapova shared a friendly embrace in a video that appeared
on social media.
Both current and former players are famous for their on-field
and off-field activities. In a video that appeared on the social media platform
X — previously known as Twitter — the two shared a friendly embrace during the
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (GP).
Jabeur is among the top 10 players currently playing in
the women’s singles category. She has been a three-time runner-up in the Grand
Slams. Her most recent heartbreak came at Wimbledon 2023 where she lost to Czech
Republic’s Marketa Vondrousova in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
On the other hand, Sharapova is a former world number one
who has managed to achieve five Grand Slam titles in her career. Her first
title victory was in 2004 when she won Wimbledon after beating America’s legendary
tennis star Serena Williams with a score of 6-1, 6-4.
Her last big triumph came in 2014 when she won the French Open
after beating the former world number one Romania’s Simona Halep in the final
with a score of 6-4, 6-7, 6-4.
