The top-ranked doubles duo of
Jessica Pegula and
Coco Gauff will remain as a team for the rest of the season, as a reporter found out when incorrectly assuming they would split up at the
Canadian Open (National Bank).
During a press conference in Montreal, Pegula was asked if she and Gauff would part ways at the end of the event in Canada. Seemingly confused, Pegula responded by asking him to clarify his question, before correcting his mistake.
Gauff and Pegula set to team together for the rest of the season
"Oh no," said Pegula. "We're playing with each other throughout...for the rest of the year I think."
Pegula would go on to reveal lately she'd been asked that question a lot, likely because she and Gauff did not play doubles together at last week's DC Open. Therefore, people assumed that they were done as a team, which she stated was incorrect.
