Roger
Federer played tennis with the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, and was
surprised when she stole a point from him at
Wimbledon.
The third
Grand Slam of the year has always been known for its tradition and prestige,
with the participation of the Royal Family in the event every year. Prior to
the start of the tournament, the 8-time Wimbledon champion has been involved in
various activities, including a training session with the ball boys and girls.
The
Princess of Wales was also present and participated in a doubles match with
Federer. Images of the moment were shared on Wimbledon's Twitter account
“What does
it take to be a #Wimbledon Ball Boy or Girl? Ahead of The Championships, @rogerfederer
and The Princess of Wales visited us to find out - and play some tennis, of
course.”
The
Princess of Wales is a royal patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club and
frequently attends the Royal Box to watch matches. In fact, it has been
confirmed that Kate will be the one to present the trophies to the winners of
this edition. It is expected that
Roger Federer will continue to participate in
the activities that take place during Wimbledon.
This week,
the Swiss former player received a tribute at the Halle Open, where he has won
the title 10 times, as a prelude to Wimbledon. At Wimbledon, he took part in
the 100-year anniversary celebration of the Centre Court (although his
retirement had not yet been confirmed) alongside other legends such as Martina
Navratilova, Rod Laver, Bjorn Borg, and Billie Jean King, among others.
