With Super Bowl LVI taking place this weekend, eagle-eyed tennis fans will get a glimpse of WTA legend Serena Williams, who is featuring in two ads set to air during the event.
Super Bowl ads are known for attracting the biggest celebrities, therefore it is no surprise that Williams has been asked to star in two commercials. Earlier this week it was confirmed that the 23-time Grand Slam winner will appear in Michelob ULTRA’s star-studded Super Bowl 56 commercial.
The who’s who of sport – including United States Women’s National Soccer player Alex Morgan, golfer Brooks Koepka, the WNBA’s Nneka Ogwumike, NBA star Jimmy Buttler and NFL great Peyton Manning – face off at the Superior Bowl.
While the rest of the cast is already enjoying a fun day at the bowling alley, Williams – wearing a jump suit – makes a late entry leading to everyone slowing down and looking up as the tennis great walks in and actor Steve Buscemi ends the commercial by saying “game time”.
Williams, who has not played any competitive tennis since picking up a serious injury at Wimbledon last July, will also star in an advertisement for home fitness gym Tonal Systems Inc.
A Tonal at-home gym costs around $2,995 (roughly £2,200), but Williams has a connection to the company as she was an early Tonal investor.
According to CNBC, Tonal is using the “ad to make a point to women that they can use strength training equipment just like men” and wants to debunk the idea that women will get “very muscular” if they use weights.
Williams is seen using the Tonal gym during the ad and states: “Never be afraid of your strength, because your body is capable of amazing things. The one they said you shouldn’t have, the one driven by a power they can’t see.
“Own your strength, and see how far it takes you.”
