With WTA, Elina Svitolina and her coach Andy Bettles spoke about the final match in Monterrey. The Ukrainian faced Marie Bouzkova in more than 3-hour battle and many see it as the best match of the 2020 season.
Svitolina had a stunning form at Abierto Seguros. She reached the final without losing a set. En route to the final, the Ukrainian defeated Kovinic, Govortsova, Fernandez and Rus.
However, in the final, she faced Bouzkova who was also in a great form in Monterrey. Both players showed great performances but the match ended better for Svitolina. She defeated the Czech 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 after 181 minutes.
"Playing in the final is always very special. I think for Marie this was the first final in such an event so I was counting that she might be a little more nervous than me, but I got broken in the first game," Svitolina said.
