27-years-old Sloane Stephens know that it's important to give to others and so she created the Sloane Stephens Foundation about which she recently spoke.
The young American enjoyed her breakthrough already in 2013 when she ended the year as no.12 in the WTA Ranking. A few years later, Stephens triumphed at the 2017 US Open and reached the final at 2018 Roland Garros. After that, she climbed her career-high 3rd place in the rankings.
Already in 2013, Stephens created her own foundation. She 'founded the Sloane Stephens Foundation with a primary goal of enhancing the quality of life for youth, through exposure to tennis as a basis for life-long learning, and healthy lifestyle choices'. Now, she spoke a bit more about her foundation.
"I was raised in a family where charity and education are core values. I'm so appreciative for all the opportunities that tennis has given to me, and I wanted other kids to experience that too. Tennis is such an amazing lifelong support and I believe it can change peoples' lives. It's the vehicle for a lot of other opportunities," she wrote.
"We've received inbound from a few other communities and have goals to expand our reach across the country to interested communities in need. We need to raise money to make this happen but we are definitely trying! We have an amazing staff of coaches, tutors and volunteers," wrote Stephens.
She also spoke about how her foundation handles the current situation. "We've gone digital! We host Zoom workouts with our players, check in on our students and help with their homework, and work with amazing partners to deliver healthy meals and wellness items," Stephens said.
"I'm so proud of the over 6 000 students we've impacted to-date! 100% of our students have graduated high school and gone on to a 2 or 4-year college. 100% of students in our summer camps maintain or advance their reading levels."
