Vandeweghe being her petulant self and refusing to do a proper warmup. No idea how she didn’t get defaulted for this.
During an ITF event in Landisville in the United States, a very bizarre sequence of evenets happened in a match between Vandeweghe and Gorgodze.
After a quick exit from the National Bank Open in Montreal Coco Vandeweghe travelled to Landisville to take part in an ITF event held there. The American drew Ekaterina Gorgodze and she was doing fairly well winning the first set. In the 2nd set, the American appeared to struggle calling a MTO midway through the set.
She would call another one later before the match got suspended due to the heat rule with the score being 1-1 in sets. Upon return, players were required to do a warm-up although neither player really wanted it. Gorgodze was willing to follow the rules however Vandeweghe refused to get up from her set for a warm-up.
Eventually, the American was persuaded by the umpire to take part in the warm-up however she showed very little enthusiasm or professionalism doing it. The umpire did not default her and the match resumed only to be suspended shortly after because of rain.
