The National Bank Open in Toronto got some of the best WTA players to read a couple of fan messages and they were brilliant.
Players and fans usually don't interact too often directly and very few players have time in their extremely busy schedules to sit down and read some fan mail. The National Bank Open in Toronto made sure they find the time to do as they did a segment with some of the best players in the world where they read messages from fans.
Players that took part include
Naomi Osaka,
Emma Raducanu,
Iga Swiatek,
Maria Sakkari, Bianca Andreescu, Coco Guaff,
Paula Badosa,
Ons Jabeur and
Anett Kontaveit. Raducanu got a very interesting message from a fan that read:
Hi Emma. You're my favourite tennis player. I love the way you play and we have something in common. We're both half-Chinese and half-Romanian. Hope to play you someday.
Raducanu responded:
"Wow! I honestly don't think I know anyone who is half-Chinese and half-Romanian. I would love to see you and meet you because I'm sure you feel like your parents are just as tough as mine.
Osaka was also touched by her fan message saying:
"This is like me being real but whenever people tell me that I'm their favourite player, it's like the most flattering thing ever because I always think there are so many other players and it's like, 'Wow, you chose me out of all the other players, that's crazy"
