It was an unexpected final but a deserving one as Hurkacz and Carreno Busta proved with the Spaniard getting the win 3-6 6-3 6-3.
Both of them played some superb tennis to reach the final they certainly did not disappoint in the final either. The crowd was into it and the players wanted to win, both of them showed a healthy dose of frustration with each rally that the opponent won. The first set was pretty decent from both players.
Hurkacz had the better timing serving and he was quite unbreakable as he dind't allow a single breka point, He only droppe three points behind his first serve. Busta was quite good as well but he did allow a single break point and Hurkacz used it to take hte opening set 6-3.
The 2nd set featured a flipped script as Busta upped his level when serving and it yielded results. He did not allow a single break point, he barely even dropped points on his serve while Hurkacz had a really rough time with his 2nd one. Only one of eight points were won by him on his 2nd serve and that was not enough as he lost the set 3-6.
The final one was quite similar but it came down to one poor decision by the Polish player. On break point he opted for a drop shot and he missed it giving Carreno the lead. The Spaniard had worse stats overall on his serve in the final set but he got the break he needed and there was no escape for Hurkacz. The crucial stat was the fact that Hurkacz had three times more unforced errors than his opponent.
