Aryna Sabalenka has released her first statement and words since the tragic passing of her boyfriend, Konstantin Koltsov at the age of 42 who reportedly committed suicide on Monday night.

Sabalenka herself didn't decide to withdraw from the Miami Open, but will not take part in any sort of press during or after the tournament with questions instead being asked to other top names about it including her best friend and next opponent, Paula Badosa much to the behest of tennis fans.

The World Number Two said that her heart was broken and to ask for privacy both for herself and for the family of Koltsov. His ex-wife floated the theory today that he was drinking and fell off the balcony and that he had hotel rooms booked as well other items ordered so it wasn't done on purpose. The Australian Open champion was due to play tomorrow, but has instead been given an extra day off in a good touch from the organisers.

“Konstantin's death is an unthinkable tragedy, and while we were no longer together, my heart is broken. Please respect my privacy and his family's privacy during this difficult time," she wrote.

The interesting part which was questioned by those on social media was the World Number Two saying that they were no longer together despite Koltsov being in Miami with her ahead of the tournament.

Aryna Sabalenka on Konstantin Koltsov’s death: “Konstantin's death is an unthinkable tragedy, and while we were no longer together, my heart is broken. Please respect my privacy and his family's privacy during this difficult time.” Stay strong, Aryna. ❤️🙏
