For the fourth time in five years, Great Britain are competing for glory in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals. Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal, Harriet Dart, Mika Stojsavljevic, and Jodie Burrage all feature with a very tricky quarter-final contest against one of the favourites for the title.

The Czech Republic's lineup is stacked. Led by Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova and the defeated finalist Karolina Muchova, they are set to prove to be tough opposition. If that is not enough, the doubles No.1 Katerina Siniakova is also back in action for her country.

Great Britain's team compared is obviously a lot weaker, and no Emma Raducanu is no help. The former US Open champion has been struggling with injuries in recent times, thus again missing out on representing her country.

Ahead of the tournament commencing, British captain Anne Keothavong offered a lot of praise to Great Britain's quarter-final opponents. "Respect is given to the opposition," she said. "We're up against a team who have a Wimbledon champion and Wimbledon finalist. You name it, there's not a lot that those players haven't achieved."

However, she had full belief in the players at her disposal of getting the job done. "But I believe in my team. I believe they're able to rise to the challenge. They're motivated. They're up for it, as always. There is a collective goal here. That hasn't changed over the years."

To win the title, they have to defeat the best. “This is a competition for us as a nation that means a lot. It's the only team event in women's tennis. Our ambition is still to win this competition one day. To do that, we know we have to beat the best.”

One of her prized possessions is Boulter. The current British No.1 opted not to travel Down Under to compete for her country in the qualifier against Australia, where Great Britain produced a stunning upset to confirm their spot in the Finals.

She is back in the team and relishing in getting underway. “I think it was a tremendous effort from all the girls that are sat here now at the start of the year," she commented. "Obviously I'm very well involved in Billie Jean King Cup. I'm always watching. I like to watch and see how everyone is doing. I supported them from afar on that one."

It is a tournament that she adores competing in, hopeful of bringing glory to her country for the very first time. “To be back in the team, it means so much to me. These are the weeks I live for. I play my heart out in these ones. So that's my plan here. Yeah, we are up against it, but I'm very, very excited for this tie.”

A big boost for Great Britain is the imminent return of Sonay Kartal. The 24-year-old has been out of the sport since the Sunshine swing with a back problem but has been deemed fit to compete once more.

“It was a very tough six months, for sure," Kartal said. "First long injury out. Yeah, there is no better way that I would want to make my return to this event. I watched the tie in Australia. Was gutted to have to miss that one. I love these girls. We have a lot of fun.”

The winner of the contest will take on either Kazakhstan or Spain. It will take place from 10:00 BST in Shenzhen, China, and is the first contest of the tournament.
