"We've missed this type of shade": Tennis fans delight in Venus Williams' post match interview after defeating Giorgi in Birmingham

Venus Williams and Camila Giorgi had a really heated clash at the Birmingham Classic which saw Giorgi celebrate a point after her opponent fell to the ground.

Grass is a slipperly surface as it can cause you tumble more than once as you change direction. That's what happened in this one as Williams tumbled in the middle of the second set. Giorgi celebrated the point one as the ball Venus played went wide and the American gave her a very long stare before serving in the next point.

The move by Giorgi was blasted by fans on social media including former player Rennae Stubbs who called it the lowest point of the career of Giorgi. After the match Williams had some interesting comments which a lot of fans perceived as subtle shade towards Giorgi. Venus said:

"I thought I played so well today and she also played incredible. I'm so surprised she isn't number one in the world. There were so many moments when I thought this match is over and she would hit a shot out of nowhere."
