Emma Raducanu will opt for a different route when it comes to the clay court season in the aftermath of her successful run in recent weeks at the Miami Open. She will not play for a few weeks but will return at a low profile tournament.
Raducanu technically will return at the Billie Jean King Cup in a few weeks time when she represents the UK between April 10-12 and joins Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal, Harriet Dart and Olivia Nicholls in a strong side as they face Netherlands and Germany in the Hague.
But she won't be playing the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix the week after she has confirmed opting instead to play Open de Rouen (Rouen Open) between April 14-20, 2025 and heads to France for the WTA 250 which features Elina Svitolina as top seed.
But the field is otherwise being led by Linda Noskova, Magda Linette, Sofia Kenin, Magda Linette and Maria Sakkari. This means a big chance for Raducanu to build. She played well during last season's clay court endeavours before she decided oddly to curtail her clay court season early before Roland Garros.
She decided instead to put more stock on the grass court season playing Nottingham the first week after Roland Garros. But with Queen's now on the calendar as a focal point, Raducanu won't need to pick and choose in that regard this year having already being handed a spot in that draw.
Ordinarily Raducanu plays Stuttgart in the week of Rouen but after seemingly leaving her role as a Porsche Brand Ambassador, she has not been given an invite. Something which both parties have denied previously but it will only fan the flames further with the fact that she is playing Rouen instead.
Albeit Elena Rybakina won't even defend her title in Stuttgart deciding instead to play only Billie Jean King Cup. Most of the big names will be in Stuttgart though but Raducanu instead has picked a smaller event likely judging her expectations before her run to the Quarter-Finals in Miami.
