Ukraine’s
Marta Kostyuk has revealed that she has not posted
any pictures while on vacation before
Wimbledon.
The 21-year-old was asked by a reporter about her pictures
in Iceland during a post-match conference after defeating Greece’s Maria
Sakkari in the first round of the mega-event with a score of 0-6, 7-5, 6-2 on
Wednesday.
While responding to that question, the 21-year-old stated
that she has not posted any pictures from any vacation in the last couple of
months as she was preparing for Wimbledon.
"Where did I post pictures from? Iceland? I don't think
that was me. No. No. I don't remember, especially in the past couple of months,
I probably didn't,” she said.
The statement makes a lot of sense as the world number 28 remained
involved in professional tennis, especially after suffering an opening round
exit from the
French Open after losing to Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka with a score
of 3-6, 2-6.
The Kiev-born was involved in the Rothesay Classic in Birmingham
where she participated in both singles and doubles events.
While the singles event was a big disappointment as she lost
the opening round fixture against Anastasia Potapova with a score of 7-6, 5-7, 4-6,
her doubles outing with Czech Republic’s Barbora Krejcikova was a successful
one as the duo ended up winning the title after beating the pair of Australia’s
Storm Hunter and Alycia Parks in the final with a score of 6-2, 7-6.
Kostyuk will now face Spain’s Paula Badosa in the second round
of the third Grand Slam of the year on Friday.
